Literature Text

In your hands you held my heart,
and promised me pure lies.
Now here we find ourselves
as the fairytale dies.

There's no such thing
as love at first sight.
It was just the glint of the moon
on that imperfect night.

No, there's no truth
to those fairytale dreams.
They're just the writer's way of hiding
the way his heart screams.

What ever happened
to "happily ever after?"
Doves never sang.
There was never any laughter.

This kitchen wench
never found her prince.
No fairy-godmother came--
no breathless first kiss.

No, there's no truth
in those fairytale dreams.
We all wake up one day
to feel our own hearts scream.
PLEASE comment if you fave!

I don't believe in happy endings anymore. ...I guess...this motherless little scullery maid was never meant to have her happily ever after. Better to find that out now than years down the road, I guess.

Enjoy.

There is so much feeling here. It makes me sad. :( I'm sorry you felt/feel this way. The thing I've always found interesting about fairytales is how horrific they are, and yet those aspects seem to be overlooked. People say that want their lives to be a fairytale and I wonder if they'd like to be locked in a tower for their entire childhood or have an insanely powerful, evil enemy hell-bent on their destruction; if they'd like to be cursed, or asked to perform deadly feats. Fairytales aren't what people want. Fairytales are dark, difficult, scary. What people want are happy endings - and those only come after the dark stuff. And of course, there are no happy endings, because nothing ends.
