Literature Text

There was a girl who's heart had been hurt too much in the past.  She was scared, oh so scared, to let love touch her heart once more.  But one day she met a boy who knew just how she felt.  His heart had been hurt too much, too.  And he was scared, but he was brave.  He let love in, and he loved the girl.  So he went to her each day and spoke with her and dried her tears.  Soon, he was her best friend.

One day, he told her all the ways his heart had been crushed in past loves.  And she grew brave from his words, and shared with him how she had been hurt, too.  Then he asked her if she would pick up each piece of their hearts with him so they could fix them.  A grin spread on her lips as she said yes.

But some of the parts were too small to fit with the rest now.  And the boy and the girl found that, when all was said and done, they had but one heart left.  The girl looked at the boy, and the boy looked at the girl.  And all at once they knew that this one heart was now both of theirs to share.  Joy danced in them, and they knew that love would hurt them no more.  This heart was theirs, and they would share it for the rest of their lives.
So, we were given a workshop prompt today in Expository Writing. "Since it is soon to be Valentine's Day, I want you all to write me a little something about love. But here's the catch...you can only use ONE SYLLABLE WORDS." We all just stared at our professor for a moment in shock. But it really wasn't that hard.

I based this off of a poem I wrote a while ago entitled "Ours"-->[link] because the last thing I want to do twenty minutes after I wake up is come up with a completely new story.

I really liked this "one syllable" prompt because it reminded me of where I came from, and how much can be expressed in one syllable words. I also like this piece because it feels like a little kid story, and it brings to my mind the simplicity that love can be when it is filled with happiness.

How you accomplished this with just one syllables is amazing. I don't think I could do that. :XD:
